Hawco suits up for GIV Bahamas
Canadian television star joins team as company’s second Brand Ambassador for Exuma
Allan Hawco, the celebrated Canadian actor, writer and producer, is suiting up for the GIV Bahamas Inc. team to help promote the stunning island of Exuma, Bahamas.
He joins Arlene Dickinson, powerhouse marketer and former star of CBC’s Dragon’s Den, as the second member of the company’s Brand Ambassador Program.
Best known for his work in the CBC’s Republic of Doyle, the dramatic mini series ZOS: Zone of Separation and recently acclaimed mini series The Book of Negroes, Hawco will spend weeks at the luxurious Grand Isle Resort & Spa over the next year, while exploring the archipelago’s famous 365 islands. In addition to attending the occasion event, he will share these amazing experiences with his social media followers and personal networks.
“Having grown up on Bell Island in Newfoundland Labrador, I have a soft spot and appreciation for island living,” Hawco said.
“I’m looking forward to seeing what Exuma is all about, meeting some of the people and implanting even more Canadiana onto this beautiful island.”
Similar to Dickinson, Hawco finds himself in a transitional phase of his life. While Dickinson recently announced her “retirement” from Dragon’s Den after eight seasons, Hawco’s hit show Republic of Doyle wrapped up in December 2014 after six seasons. His new venture will be to act and produce in the new CBC series Caught, based on Lisa Moore’s bestselling novel.
Somewhere in between, Hawco will find time to experience Grand Isle and Exuma.
“Allan is a great Canadian, and he’s from an area of Canada that has always been close to my heart,” said Peter Nicholson, President of GIV Bahamas Inc, who was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
“I want to welcome Allan to our team and I’m excited to show him around the island.”
With an impressive TV resume, Hawco was honoured with the National Theatre School’s Gascon-Thomas Award in 2011. That same year, he received an Outstanding Achievement Award from The Canadian Film and Television’s Hall of Fame.
